The Invisible Children of Northern Uganda

http://www.creativevisions.org/name/

http://www.shineglobal.org/shine_currentdocs.htm

It's amazing how Americans know more about the tragedies in Uganda than I do.
Don't fall in the same boat...don't be another ignorant Ugandan that doesn't know about issues affecting his own country.

Why are Americans and foreigners taking a more active role/stance in fixing issues in our own country? How pathetic/uncaring/disconcerned are we not to be able to care for our own people in Northern Uganda?

Top 10 things to do with stolen $2 million

http://newvision.co.ug/D/8/12/493665

So with my dear former school-mate John Musisi Kadewunema being arrested for
stealing over 1 billion of these notes, I'm forced to wonder, what would I do
with 1 billion pounds....not $ but POUNDS. Damnit John, if only you were not
busted, we could have shared that loot.

Here is my top 10 list of things that I would do with John's kinda money.

  1. Pay off my outstanding parking tickets! Intentionally double park, speed
and get all sorts of traffic violations so that I can laugh in the cops face
as I pay off the tickets

  2. Take a trip around the world, under the sea, the moon and back

  3. Buy a Gulf Stream jet for my president so that my African ppl can get
more respect as he represents Uganda in foreign countries

  4. Do #1 - 3 all over again.

  5. Ok, I'm out of ideas, but then again, that's one reason why I don't have
1 billion pounds....but seriously, what would anyone do with that kinda
    mulla?

White gal, Black man

White women's opinion of black women and a brother's response.

It seems that an article was written to Sister 2 Sister magazine by
a Caucasian woman who requested a response from black men. She got
a response!!!

Dear Jamie:

I'm sorry but I would like to challenge some of your Black male
readers. I am a White female who is engaged to a Black
male-good-looking, educated and loving. I just don't understand a
lot of Black female's attitudes about our relationship. My man
decided he wanted me because the pickings amongst Black women were
slim to none. As he said they were either too fat, too loud, too
mean, too argumentative, too needy, too materialistic or carrying
too much excess baggage.

Before I became engaged, whenever I went out I was constantly
approached by Black men, willing to wine and dine me and give me
the world. If Black women are so up in arms about us being with
their men, why don't they look at themselves and make some changes.
I am tired of the dirty looks I get and snide remarks when we're
out in public. I would like to hear from some Black men about why
we are so appealing and coveted by them.

Bryant Gumbel just left his wife of 26 years for one of us Charles
Barkley, Scottie Pippen, the model Tyson Beckford, Montell
Williams, Quincy Jones, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, Sydney
Poitier, Kofi Annan, Cuba Gooding Jr., Don Cornelius, Berry Gordy,
Billy Blanks, Larry Fishburne, Wesley Snipes ... I could go on and
on. But, right now, I'm a little angry and that is why I wrote this
so hurriedly.

Don't be mad with us White women because so many of your men want
us. Get your acts together and learn from us and we may lead you t
o treat your men better. If I'm wrong, Black men, let me know.

Disgusted White Girl, Somewhere in VA
---------------------------------

RESPONSE

Dear Jamie:

I would like to respond to the letter written by A Disgusted White
Girl. Let me start by saying that I am a 28-year old black man. I
graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in Atlanta,
Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management. I
have a good job at a major corporation and have recently purchased
a house. So, I consider myself to be among the ranks of successful
black men.

I will not use my precious time to slander white people. I j ust
want to set the record straight of why black men date white women.
Back in the day, one of the biggest reasons why black men dated
white women was because they were considered easy. The black girls
in my neighborhood were raised in the church. They were very strict
about when they lost their virginity and who they lost it to.
Because of our impatience to wait, brothers would look for someone
who would give it up easy without too much hassle. So, they turned
to the white girls.

Nowadays, in my opinion, a lot of brothers date white women because
they are docile and easy to control. A lot of black men, because of
insecurities, fears, and overall weaknesses, have become
intimidated by the strength of our black women. We are afraid that
our woman will be more successful than us, make more money than us,
drive nicer cars and own bigger houses. Because of this fear, many
black men look for a more docile woman. Someone we can control. I
have talked to numerous black men and they continuously comment on
how easy i t is to control and walk over their white women. I just
want to set the record straight. I want A Disgusted White Girl to
know that not all successful black men date white women.

Brothers like Ahmad Rashad, Denzel Washington, Michael Jordan,
Morris Chestnut, Will Smith, Blair Underwood, Kenneth "Babyface"
Edmonds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock all married strong black
women And, to flip the script, there are numerous white men, in and
out of the spot
light, who openly or secretly desire black women over white women.
Ted Danson, Robert DeNiro, and David Bowie to name a few.

I just don't want a disgusted white girl to be misinformed Stop
thinking that because you are white that you are some type of
goddess. Remember, when black Egyptian Queens like Hatsepshut and
Nitorcris were ruling Dynasties and armies of men in Egypt, you
were over in the caves of Europe eating raw meat and beating each
other over the head with clubs.

Read your history!

It was the black woman that taught you how to cook and season your
food. It was the black woman that taught you how to raise your
children. It was black women who were breast feeding and raising
your babies during slavery. It is the black woman that had to
endure watching their fathers, husbands, and children beaten,
killed, and thrown in jail. Black women were born with two strikes
against them: being black and being a woman. And, through all this,
Still They Rise! It is because of the black women's strength,
elegance, power, love and beauty that I could never date anyone
except my black Queen.

It is not just the outer beauty that captivates and draws me to
them. It is not the fact that they come in all shapes, sizes,
colors and shades that I love them. Their inner beauty is what I
find most appealing about black women. Their strong spirit, loving
and nurturing souls, their integrity, their ability to overcome
great obstacles, their willingness to stand for what they believe
in, and their determination to succeed and reach their highest
potential while enduring gr eat pain and suffering is why I have
fallen in love with black women.

I honestly believe that your anger is geared more toward jealousy
and envy more so than snotty looks. If this were not so, then why
do you continuously go to tanning salons to darken your skin? If
you are so proud to be white, then why don't you just be happy with
your pale skin? Why do you continue to inject your lips, hips, and
breasts with unnatural and dangerous substances so you can look
fuller and more voluptuous? I think that your anger is really a
result of you wanting to have what the black woman has.

BOTTOM LINE: If I were looking for a docile woman, someone I can
walk over and control, I would give you a call. But, unfortunately,
I am looking for a Virtuous Woman. Someone that can be a good wife
and mother to my children. Someone who can be my best friend and
understands my struggles. I am looking for a soul mate. I am
looking for a sister and; unfortunately, you do not and CANNOT fit
the bill. No offense taken, none given.

I hate Principles of Programming Languages

And it's not because I'm having a tough time in the class..ok, I admit, that's definitely the reason why. I hate all classes where the material doesn't come naturally to me..why? because innately, I'm lzy.

However, three thngs I'll always remember from this class are:
1. Scoping
2. Follow the GRAMMAR
and
3. The Onion Principle - " This class is like peeling an onion, the skin comes off nice and easy, layer by layer, but in the process... YOU CRY!" by Prf. Mitch Wand

Pass Immigration Bill

Progress finally...or is it?
With the passing of the new bill, anyone who has been here illegally for 5 yrs or more can stay and get citizenship...(damnit, I'm a few months shy!)

Anyone that's bn here 2-5yrs hs to frst go bck to their hme country and thn procss their docs...(I honstly pity the dummies tht r gonna fall 4 ths trap...I knw for sure tht my Afrcn comrades are too sharp to be fooled into this)

Anyone that's been here less than 2yrs can kiss INS' butt and jst get the hell out right now before they fish you out...SERIOUSLY, do us all a fvr and leave so that rest of us can thrive...jst kiddng.

I persnally really don't care either way, as long as I'm on the safe side..incase u did not notice yet, I only act in rational self interest....anyone tht does othrwse is a fool.

IPOD for dummies

The Dummy being me...
How the hell does one delete songs from an IPOD?
I am not one to read manuals and believe that
good products + intelligence = no need for manual

1pt down for IPOD, I'm disappointed!! For $400, this shd be an included feature...

Terrible I-River h10 20gb

I jst bought the I-River 20 gig Mp3 player in an attempt to join the fad of mp3 players. In one word terrible.
The main reason I bght an MP3 plyr was to free up spce on my pc and travl with my music to the gym etc.

BAD
Size: Bulky, couldnt use in gym
Usability: Ugly and hard to use scroll control, hard to select next song
-U must use windows media player and it re-organizes all ur songs for u. Cannot drag and drop simply. I have my own mp3 files from way back and my own order, don't need WMPlayer to re-organize them for me.
- I couldn't download all my music files, many of them failed since they were not "legal" files
Performance: It froze on me twice within the two days that I owned it, talk abt poor quality assurance.

GOOD
Display: Fancy
Features: Radio is good, ended up being only good feature on device
Protective case is good, but makes it hard to get to buttons

Overall, for $200, save ur money for another device!
Right now, I'm playing with the ipod, will review it soon after I send it back.

Are you all you can be, or just Mediocre!

" I think that you can do so much more with your life, but you have settled for a mediocre position in life!"

A close friend of mine just laid it down on my recently. Much as I did not agree with this, I also did not disagree. It made me wonder..
Am I doing what I really want to do with my life? Am I the best that I can be..is this it..I am at the age where most people achieve their maximum potential in their life..is this it?

No, I won't settle for less. I am not there yet and I definitely have not settled for mediocrity. Unless, I get knocked down by a car today, there is still more to come.

So to my dear friend, if you are reading this, there is more to come.
