Hard work doesn't pay...does it?
If you thought KPS was tough, think again. Just thank God you did not go to school in South Korea otherwise you would learn what 'harshing' really is.
I read an interesting article abt the South Korean university entrance exams and was blown away at the seriousness the entire society attributes to education. An example is planes aren't allowed to land in the airport on the morning of exams because of noise. Work officially starts at 10am that day and traffic is stopped that morning for students to get to school.
Here are interesting facts to note abt Korean educ. system:(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_South_Korea)
-the university a South Korean high school graduate attended was perhaps the single most important factor in determining his or her life chances.
-Hence, a Korean student who gets into a top notch university is likely set for life and is guaranteed a lifetime of fortunes and financial security.
==> and for the grand finale... Meanwhile, those Korean students who are unable to get into a good university face few, even gruesome, options. They can either 1.) commit suicide, 2.) become unemployed and homeless, 3.) join the military, or 4.) settle for taking low-paying, menial jobs for survival.
man, flunking exams in S.Korea is one guaranteed way to be broke for life.
